David Kinsley

Profesor David Robert Kinsley (1939-2000)

David Kinsley s-a născut în Holyoke, Massachusetts, în 25 Aprilie 1939. A absolvit cu succes Drew University în 1961, Theological Seminary în 1964 și University of Chicago în 1970. David a fost captivat de uimitoarea diversitate a experiențelor religioase umane. Viața lui s-a intersectat cu viețile a nenumărați oameni cu credințe diferite. A fost fascinat în special de Hinduism și de-a lungul vieții a efectuat numeroase călătorii în India pentru a studia festivalurile și ritualurile specifice zeilor și zeițelor Hinduse. La McMaster University, unde și-a desfășurat activitatea pentru mai bine de 30 de ani, a creat și dezvoltat cursuri despre tradițiile religioase străvechi sau contemporane. Ca profesor, David și-a ajutat elevii să-și dezvolte respectul și înțelegerea pentru culturi care au practici religioase diferite. Susținut constant de soția sa Cary, el a scris șapte cărți fundamentale care acum sunt documente de referință în universitățile din întreaga lume.
